5 Quick Steps to Start Recording and Uploading your own Exercise Videos
Making exercise videos doesn't need to be expensive or time consuming. With the right processes in place, you can be up and running with your first video in a matter of minutes.
Create a shot list
Plan what exercises you would like to record in advance and write out your script. A few minutes spent planning ahead of time will save you lots of time while you're shooting. We use an excel file to write down the exercises we'd like to record along with the written instructions and check them off when they've been recorded. This document is shared with our team so that we're all on the same page and can all contribute to the list.
Decide how you would like to convey the exercise instructions - will you speak while the exercise is being recorded or will you do a voice over after the video has been shot. The first option is simpler.
Use equipment that you're familiar with
You don't need to go out and buy a new camera or fancy equipment to record your videos. Smartphones and tablets have really good cameras built in and you're most likely all ready familiar with how to use them. To avoid black bars on either side of your video, though, it's best to record your videos with your phone or tablet held lengthwise, not up and down.
The one piece of equipment that can be useful is a smartphone tripod - this helps reduce the shakiness of the video.
Find a buddy
You'll need at least one person to help you out - someone needs to record the exercise and someone needs to demonstrate and explain the exercise. If you ask a colleague or a friend to be your "model" make sure that they understand where the video will be uploaded and whether you will be making it public on healthSwapp or keeping it private to yourself and your patients.
Pick a space to record your video - typically a space with natural light produces better videos. Transfer the videos to your computer.
Upload your video to healthSwapp by signing into your account and following these steps:
Step 1: Select the video that you would like to upload Step 2: Click Upload
That's it. Follow these steps and in no time you'll have your own personalized library of exercises!
