Don’t Sweat it! Tips for Better Hearing Success with Your Client!
1 hour 30 minutes
Overview
Older adults with hearing loss tend to be more sedentary and less active than those with normal hearing. Several factors may contribute to this relationship, including but not limited to reduced ability to hear sounds and speech, decreased mobility, increased cognitive/listening fatigue and limited hearing accessibility measures. This presentation will review the current literature on the comorbidity of age-related hearing and vestibular loss, as well as evidence-based interventions aimed at addressing these factors.
Learning Objectives
- Upon completion of this workshop participants will be able to create a treatment plan that takes into consideration the patient’s hearing ability.
- Participants will be able to effectively implement communication strategies with individuals with hearing loss.
- Participants will be able to operate hearing aids and verify their functionality prior to communicating with patients with hearing loss.
