Participants with shoulder pathology, treated with a standardized rehabilitation program, were monitored to determine how many and which patients were successfully managed with rehabilitation vs. requiring surgical consult.

Results indicated that the majority of participants (78%) were successful with rehabilitation, and characteristics associated with failed rehabilitation included a degree of rotator cuff tear (p<0.05) and decreased external rotation strength.
