Treating Sexual Dysfunction in the Post-Prostatectomy Population
1 hour
The instructors
Overview
Prostate cancer survivors and their partners often face a complex range of challenges — not only the emotional impact of a cancer diagnosis, but also the lasting effects of treatment. While a radical prostatectomy is a common and effective approach to managing prostate cancer, it frequently results in quality-of-life concerns such as urinary incontinence and sexual dysfunction, including erectile difficulties.
In this one-hour webinar, you'll gain a deeper understanding of how prostate cancer treatment affects bladder and penile function. We'll also explore the emotional and psychological impact of sexual dysfunction on both patients and their partners, and introduce biopsychosocial strategies to support sexual recovery, intimacy, and overall well-being.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
-
Describe the anatomical and physiological changes that occur following a radical prostatectomy.
-
Identify common pelvic and sexual health concerns among prostate cancer survivors, including bladder and sexual dysfunction.
-
List three biopsychosocial strategies to support prostate cancer survivors in reconnecting with their sexual function, intimacy, and emotional well-being.
Audience
This webinar is designed for healthcare and wellness professionals who work with prostate cancer survivors. This includes pelvic health therapists, mental health providers, sexual health educators, and members of oncology care teams.
