Victorious (Overcoming) Breath

The Victorious or Overcoming breath (ujyaii pronounced "ooh-jai-ee") works on the theory of optimal arousal described in the text Medical Therapeutic Yoga, which provides a precursor practice to help you master TATD (POWER) Breath, and helps in best fit engagement of the muscles and fascia in the trunk which span all three diaphragms, including the vocal/laryngeal, respiratory, and pelvic diaphragms.

This breath practice can be used in rehabilitation, wellness and movement/exercise, Pilates, yoga, yoga therapy, physical and/or occupational therapy practice, for example. It is especially useful in creating safety for mind-body and mindfulness-based movement practices, and for physical therapy of the aforementioned areas.
