About Carly

Originally from Victoria, British Columbia, Carly completed her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry at the University of Victoria before moving to Vancouver to complete her Master of Physical Therapy at the University of British Columbia. After experiencing her own orthopaedic challenges including two paediatric orthopaedic surgeries and interacting with physiotherapists during her childhood, Carly entered the field with a keen interest in paediatrics.

As a UBC physiotherapy student, she completed two placements at BC Children’s Hospital and volunteered weekly at Kids Physio, where she quickly discovered the clinic was the perfect fit to start her career in paediatrics. Carly enjoys treating patients ranging from babies to teenagers, and loves the challenge of keeping the sessions both effective and fun. Her post-graduate education and extensive experience allow Carly to treat patients with a wide range of presentations including infant conditions, developmental disorders, gross motor delays, toe walking, coordination concerns, sports-related injuries, concussions, and more!

Carly collaborates with the BC Community Brain Injury Program to support children with recent brain injuries in reaching their rehab goals. Carly also has a special interest in baby physiotherapy and can often be found giving presentations on Infant Motor Development to parents in the community or to university students. Carly also won the 2018 Canadian Physiotherapy Association Rising Star Distinction Award for her diverse work and leadership in the pediatric field.

In addition to her clinical work, Carly is the Director of Clinical Excellence for Kids Physio Group. She helps mentor new physiotherapists on the KPG team across Canada, as well as UBC students with an interest in paediatrics. Carly is passionate about increasing access to fun, high-quality pediatric physiotherapy and organizes learning opportunities for therapists at Kids Physio and across the country.

Outside the clinic, you would likely find Carly training at CrossFit, playing one of many sports, catching up with her three sisters, cheering on the Canucks and Seahawks, traveling somewhere warm or adventuring in the mountains on her snowboard.
