    Carolyn Vandyken, BHSc (PT)

Carolyn is a Pelvic Health Physiotherapist who graduated from McMaster University in 1986 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physiotherapy. She has spoken at over 50 conferences and grand round presentations throughout Canada and the United States. Carolyn co-authored the first book on patient-centred pain biology education for pelvic pain, Why Pelvic Pain Hurts, and also co-authored three peer-reviewed framework articles with Sandra Hilton on the assessment and treatment of persistent pelvic pain.

She co-owns a Canadian-based teaching company, Pelvic Health Solutions, and teaches internationally on the physiotherapy for pelvic floor problems. She also manages her own practice in Huntsville, Ontario.

   Nelly Faghani B.Sc. P.T., M.C.P.A.

She graduated from the University of Toronto in 1996. Nelly started to treat pelvic health in 1998 and continues to be actively involved in clinical practice, mentoring and teaching. She has helped develop Continence Programs that have been implemented in various long-term care facilities through Ontario. Nelly has been a spokesperson for the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, has co-authored a neuro-urology textbook chapter on incontinence and has hosted a round table at the International Pelvic Pain Society Conference.

Nelly is a member of the ICS Children and Young Adult’s Committee and the ICS Physiotherapy Committee. She regularly attends international conferences and prides herself on staying on top of the current pelvic health literature.

Pelvic Health Solutions

Pelvic Health Solutions is an evidence-based teaching company that was founded in 2010 by Nelly Faghani and Carolyn Vandyken, out of the need to develop pelvic health resources in Ontario, an under serviced health concern in this province. Since the inception of our teaching company, pelvic health physiotherapy has blossomed from a handful of physiotherapists to well over 300 therapists now rostered with the Ontario College of Physiotherapists. Pelvic Health Solutions provides continuing education courses for a variety of practitioners, including mentoring and clinical resources for therapists to utilize with their patients. Our mission is to provide evidence-based, biopsychosocial resources to patients and health care practitioners for the assessment and treatment of pelvic health problems in our province and abroad.
