What Participants Are Saying
“I liked how specific the interventions were that were covered, and that handouts were included to use with my patients!”
- Gabriella C.
“I liked that she fully went through with what an evaluation would look like.”
- Lindsay Leyva
“This was a really great introduction to the world of childbirth and PT. It opens your eyes to all the spaces that therapist can fill in the birthing experience.”
- Samantha W.
“I love the basic education about pregnancy, birth and early pp recovery. As someone who is not a mom, this was so so helpful to learn.
As a new grad PT in the acute care setting, this course has been so helpful to me. I have been given the opportunity to help establish an antepartum/postpartum PT program for moms in the acute setting and I feel much more confident after taking this course.”
- Cameron Seymour
“This course was wonderful and definitely helped my "imposter syndrome". I realized that I knew more than I thought but there were also many things that I learned. I am definitely going to adjust what I cover in my sessions. I feel like prior to this course I was going over EVERYTHING under the sun, when in reality I need to condense it down. You have helped me understand/prioritize what is most important for each specific patient/scenario and then I can provide handouts or other resources for the rest, which we may not have time to cover in a session. I will be recommending this course to other colleagues!”

PT and OT Postpartum
Do I need to have previous pelvic health, pregnancy or postpartum training/experience before I take this course?
No, you do not need previous training or experience to take this course. We'll review the basics of pregnancy, childbirth and core/pelvic floor function that you would need to know to work with a super early postpartum client.
If I already have previous pelvic health, pregnancy or postpartum training, how is this course different/what will I get out of it?
Gaps I had in my pelvic training that I made sure to include in this course include:
- Concerns, impairments, complications and red/yellow flag situations that were unique to the 0-6 week timeframe.
- Discussing how seeing a patient in acute care or home health is different than a traditional outpatient setting.
- Managing and prioritizing care within the shortened time frame of acute care.
- Pregnancy-related major organ system changes that persist into the 0-6 week timeframe and how to factor into therapy plan of care.
- Role of PT & OT in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.
- How to create usable support system plans with patients.
- How to determine appropriate exercises for 0-6 weeks postpartum clients.
If you feel you have any of these gaps in your postpartum care knowledge, this course would be a great fit for you!
I'm an acute care PT or OT working in a hospital that sees/wants to start seeing postpartum patients before they discharge. Will this course help me do that?
Absolutely! Dr. Locati is primarily an acute care therapist who specializes in seeing postpartum patients in the hospital setting.
I'm a home health or outpatient PT or OT that sees/wants to see postpartum patients in the home, clinic or virtually starting in the super early 0-6 weeks timeframe. Will this course help me do that?
Yes! Throughout the course we'll discuss applying the principles to patients who are already back at home including screening for complications/decision making when you don't have access to patient hospital charts, recent lab values or vitals histories.
Will this course include practice applications/examples for real patients?
Yes! This course emphasizes what the concepts covered truly mean for a new parent living their daily life after childbirth and includes case studies we will walk through in detail to apply the principles of the course to cases based on Dr. Locati's experience treating the early postpartum population.
Has this course been approved for CEUs (Continuing Education Units)?
Yes, this course has been approved for 5hrs of PHYSICAL THERAPY CEUs in the state of Texas. Most US states will accept CEUs that have been approved in another state so PTs taking the course in the US can submit their certificate to their state for CEU credit.
