Overview

Integrative & Lifestyle Medicine (ILM) are popular buzzwords in physical therapy practice today. This is a biopsychosocial-driven model of assessment and care.

But what does it actually look like in real day-to-day practice? How do you juggle the implementation of a new, more effective model of practice when you are already strapped for time and the patient may have limited resources?

Dr. Ginger Garner has been using Integrative (through Medical Therapeutic Yoga) and Lifestyle Medicine, which also includes Functional Medicine via functional endocrinology, in her pelvic health and orthopedic physical therapy practice for over 2 decades, and she has been training physical therapists (physiotherapists), occupational therapists, and other healthcare providers to do the same via Living Well Institute (formerly Professional Yoga Therapy Institute ®) since 2001.

In this online course, Ginger will show you how she implements this model in her practice at Garner Pelvic Health.  Ginger discusses the keys to success and walks through a real case study to better paint the picture of how this model is carried out.

In this course, the instructor will discuss:

  • What ILM is and why it is relevant.
  • 3 keys to success in the implementation of ILM.
  • The link between gut dysbiosis and MSK health.
  • ILM plan of care.
  • Trauma responses and how they impact treatment.
