Overview

This month’s case is an active 32-year-old female, also a physiotherapist, coping with benign hypermobility for over eight years. She is struggling with multiple areas of dysfunction, particularly around her lumbar spine, left SIJ, hip and knee.

The patient hopes to be able to sustain her work day with minimal back pain and return to her sports.

The panelists clinically reason through probable diagnoses, having the patient perform a series of movements throughout the discussion. Knee hypermobility, thoracic spine and ankle hypomobility, proprioception, poor core control are suggested as potential contributors to the patient’s presentation.

How can we help her prolong her joint health?

You can find all recorded Grand Round sessions from the Orthopaedic Division of the CPA here.
